About the edTPA® Assessment

​

edTPA® is an assessment aimed at ensuring individuals entering the classroom have the competencies to teach students effectively. edTPA® allows the student to provide evidence to support the skills potential teachers need to teach in the classroom. The edTPA® assessment is focused heavily on the application of teaching, giving students the chance to develop the high confidence and strong skills needed to be successful in a diverse classroom environment.  Being the first teacher preparation program aligned with state and national standards, edTPA® provides the assurance needed for parents and schools that new teachers are teaching with high quality and improving students' achievements.

Planning for Instruction and Assessment Task – This section requires the candidates to develop 3-5 consecutive lesson plans and provide associated instructional materials and assessments.

​

Instructing and Engaging Children in Learning Task – This section requires the candidates to record a video showing instruction of lesson plans developed.

​

Assessing Children’s Learning Task – This section requires the candidates to compile students’ sample works and provide feedback to show progress toward the objectives of the lessons.

In 2021, Preparing Educators’ edTPA® Tutoring Services launched services where students can buy support services by the sessions.
